چکیده

MYH9 (myosin, heavy chain 9, non-muscle) as a gene encodes NM II-A (non-muscle II-A) protein, exists primarily in the cytoplasm. MYH9 consists of 2 mysoin heavy chains with a relative molecular mass of 230 kDa. Previous studies have shown that MYH9 is involved in a number of diseases, including cancer. However, the exact role of MYH9 in colon cancer is still unclear. Therefore, we used a tissue microarray of 90 colon cancer cases using immunohistochemistry and western blotting on four cases of paired fresh tissues. After analyzing both the immunohistochemical scores and clinical data, the results suggest that colon cancer tissues had higher expression of MYH9 than normal colon tissues. Higher expression of MYH9 in colon cancer patients predicted a worse N classification and clinical stage. Additionally, colon cancer patients with high expression of MYH9 had a shorter survival time than those with low MYH9 expression. Further, subgroup analysis revealed that the expression level of MYH9 was associated with colon cancer patients’ survival time in the T3-4 stage, the N0-1 stage, and the clinical stages I-II. Univariate and multivariate analyzes of regression showed that MYH9 is an independent prognostic factor for colon cancer patients. These findings suggested that MYH9 is an oncogene and may be used as an indicator for clinical diagnosis in colon cancer patients. We also demonstrated that MYH9 could serve as an independent prognostic factor for colon cancer patients.

Analysis of BAALC gene Expression as prognosis factor in Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Iran

Background:Brain and Acute Leukemia Cytoplasmic (BAALC) is a gene which its expression is confined to progenitor cells; therefore, no expression has been illustrated in mature cells of bone marrow or white blood cells (WBC).  In addition, high BAALC expression is associated with poor prognosis in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) individuals and is considered as an important risk factor in Cyto...

Role of Frizzled receptor expression on patients’ survival with gastrointestinal cancers: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Background: Frizzled receptors (FZD) play a pivotal role in the initiation and progression of a wide array of cancers. Dysregulated expression of FZD receptors is correlated with higher metastasis and invasive potential, as well as short survival in many malignancies. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to verify the prognostic value of FZD receptor expression on patients’ survival with different t...

Investigating the CTGF mRNA Expression Level in Patients with Colorectal Cancer

Background: The Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF) gene encoding an extracellular matrix (ECM)-associated protein and as a member of the CCN family of proteins plays a major role in fibrosis, inflammation and connective tissue remodeling in a variety of diseases including cancer. The CCN proteins are multifunctional and are involved in cell proliferation, adhesion and cell development durin...

Low Expression of Chloride Channel Accessory 1 Predicts a Poor Prognosis in Colorectal Cancer

BACKGROUND Chloride channel accessory 1 (CLCA1) is a CLCA protein that plays a functional role in regulating the differentiation and proliferation of colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. Here we investigated the relationship between the level of CLCA1 and the prognosis of CRC. METHODS First, the level of CLCA1 was detected quantitatively in normal and cancerous colonic epithelial tissues with immun...
